Canary Yellow Vintage Farmhouse Style Low Sideboard

**SOLD** While this sideboard has been sold, (sorry!) I have several carved door ‘raw’ units in stock which can be given a colourful makeover to you own specifications. Just contact me for more details and lovely options! This solid oak sideboard has been given a bright and cheery makeover. Its carved details and primitive style are just the essence of English country farmhouse style. As a low unit, this piece would not only work in a traditional dining room or kitchen diner but it would work brilliantly in your lounge with your flatscreen TV on top. You could even add a couple of bright cushions and use it as the perfect hallway or bedroom storage unit and bench. The main unit has been painted in a stunning yellow acrylic paint, lightly distressed and antique glazed to give it an authentic time worn style. The original hardware has been refinished in a satin black to contrast with the yellow whilst adding a touch of modern style. The whole exterior has been sealing with several coats of satin lacquer to maintain its aged good looks. The top has been completely stripped back to the wood, stained with a walnut wood dye and made durable with a finishing coat of a hardwearing matt floor oil. The interior has been cleaned up by painting in a white acrylic paint and a fruity floral wallpaper has been used to line the drawers and the inside of the doors. This adds another layer of interest when you open it up. Dimensions: 1220mm wide x 450mm deep x 580mm high. ‘Golden Pineapples’ Display Unit

This display cabinet has been sold but you can commission similar. Contact me for more information and to see what cabinets I have in stock ready for a Golden Pineapples makeover! Golden Pineapples adorn this vintage glass display case in abundance! It would look truly stunning in a bedroom filled with soft toys or stylish high heels as well as in a lounge or dining room with the more traditional glassware, china or cocktail accoutrements! Hand-stencilled onto the backboard inside are a set of stunning, staggered gold pineapples. A switch operated LED strip light that conforms to all UK electrical safety standards has been installed inside filling the unit with an extra pop of light when turned on. This means that, in the evening (or in a dark corner during the day), the contents will positively sparkle when displayed on the replacement polished glass safety shelves! The light also illuminates the cut glass art deco pattern on the doors making this little beauty a real feature piece your friends won't be able to help but admire. A cream coloured base paint has been carefully applied and then seriously distressed to reveal the original dark wood underneath. It has then been sealed with an old-fashioned varnished poly topcoat which has been allowed to develop a natural yellowed patina. On the top trim, I have added a raised gold pineapple border detail which is subtle but as a stylish textural element to the piece. All in all, this piece is bang on trend but seems totally original and natural which will suit lovers of shabby chic to a tee. Grey Roses Faded Elegance Oak Chairs

These farmhouse style ladder back solid oak chairs just ooze faded elegance. They are traditional chairs made from solid oak but have been given an edgy modern finish. These chairs have now been sold but I can source similar chairs for you and give them a gorgeous makeover. The grey and white finish has been created through the use of dry brushing techniques and rubbing in paint washes. This gives is a look that from a distance is like metal or stone. Up close you can see gentle distressing which exposes little glimpses of the lovely oak underneath. The seat pads have been fully replaced with extra-thick (and comfy) fire retardant foam and covered in this lovely vintage Warwick fabric (Monance design) which is a soft beige linen and cotton blend upholstery fabric with dark carbon grey and navy blue roses with a few chocolate brown leaves. Dimensions - 450mm deep, 400mm wide and 485mm to top of seat pad or 940mm overall height from floor to top of chair back. They would look equally gorgeous at your dining room table, in the hallway, at a desk or even a dressing table! Haute Couture Side Table / Trolley

This sweet little side table or cocktail trolley is solid pine and painted in a custom chalk paint made from Farrow and Ball's Clunch before a little light distressing to give it that relaxed aged / shabby chic look. The top glass surface has been freehand painted on the underside with a shabby chic French sign design which says 'Haute Couture' in black and gold / brass. The table has been sealed in matte varnish to make provide a durable finish. I managed to find a set of vintage castors (removable) with rubber feet which have been given a brass finish to complete the look. They also make this lovely piece would make a the perfect side table, bedside table or even cocktail / tea trolley for anyone with an eye for French shabby chic, handmade or Art Deco pieces with character. Dimensions: 660mm wide x 440mm deep x 685mm high inc wheels (600mm exc wheels). Grand Salon AV / Storage Cupboard

This pretty little cupboard has been painted in a custom chalk paint made from Farrow and Ball in the colour 'Clunch'. It has been distressed and matte varnished to give it that delicate, aged look ideal for a shabby chic interior. The glass door has been given a custom French sign design in black. It says "Grand Salon" "de l'Hôtel-De-Serre" "Londres" which roughly translates as "Large Lounge" "Glasshouse Hotel" "London". The typography has then been lightly distressed in keeping with the vintage feel. Dimensions: 580mm wide x 465mm deep x 915mm tall inc backplate or 885mm to top of the surface. The interior width is 500mm maximum with the door opening at 450mm. This unit provides great storage for treasured items but would also be perfect for use as an AV unit. Placed alongside a wall mounted TV, you could pop your Sky box, games controllers and more in there. This would keep the lady of the house happy style-wise and the man of the house with neat storage for all his electronic treasures! Shabby Chic ‘Birdie’ Bedroom Furniture

These gorgeous three drawer solid pine bedside cabinets would look beautiful in a gentle, feminine, shabby chic bedroom. Each cabinet is painted in an off-white acrylic paint and you can choose whether you want a 'perfect' paint finish or if you would like it to be lightly distressed around the edges. Each flat surface has been decoupaged in a bird themed, wallpaper with silver accents before finishing with two coats of satin varnish to seal and protect from wear and tear. Drawer interiors are stained with a complimentary off-white revealing the beauty of the pine - the final look of this will depend on the colour of the raw pine of course! The drawer bottoms have been lined with the same bird design so that these chests of drawers look beautiful inside and out. Off-white pumpkin shaped handles complete this dreamy subtle look and you can choose between silver or bronze centres. Each and every cabinet has features a different combination of birds in different places, giving you a completely unique piece! I was overjoyed to see a large dresser, bedside table and mirror from my childhood restored after receiving 40 years of abuse, including my own attempt at refurbishing it. Jenny was very good in the initial stages of helping me to define what effect, I wanted to achieve. I sent her examples of a subtle grey lime wash on oak with soft white highlights on a piece I saw in the Cotswolds. She responded with several photos of something similar to clarify the ask, then it was time to send the furniture to her, which was complicated by the fact I was moving house. But we managed to come up with a plan and the movers dropped the furniture at her storage unit the same day. Throughout the process Jenny sent jpeg photos in emails to show me how it was progressing. We were able to make some minor changes after the first piece was almost finished. What I didn’t expect was that the pieces were made of different types of wood and the top of the bedside table was almost destroyed due to water (mostly spilt tea) damage. This was the biggest challenge to overcome because the final look had to be consistent across all three pieces. Jenny rose to the challenge and performed her paint “magic” and the final result is brilliant, better than I could have imagined. The only slight disappointment was due to my own indecisiveness about the brass trim handles and knobs. I wish I had listened to Jenny in the first place when she brightened them up, still - she let me come back with them, conjured up a nice looking sample which she posted to me and soon they will receive the “Glass House Girl” treatment too. Most of all, through all of this, I appreciated the open communication through emails and text, Jenny was on top of it the whole way. Of course, I would highly recommend sending any weary looking furniture to Glass House Girl to brighten up with her magic.

Fantastic service from Jenny. I had my mother’s old Singer sewing machine I wanted making into a lamp. Jenny arranged for the machine to be collected and re-delivered back to my house. When I had a slight problem with the lamp, Jenny arranged for it to be collected so she could make it good again and returned it to me herself at no extra cost to me. She did a BRILLIANT job and the lamp is now standing proudly in my front room in memory of my mum. I would highly recommend Glasshouse girl, honest, trustworthy and marvellous craftswomen. You won’t be disappointed.
