Black & Walnut Regency Style Dressing Table / Dresser

This delightful reproduction vintage dresser / dressing table has been given a modernising makeover in black and natural wood. The top and drawer fronts feature a lovely geometric inlay and have been stained in a walnut tone before sealing in hardwearing hardwax oil to make the grain and the inlay pop. The frame, side panels and mirror have been painted in a high quality matt black acrylic furniture paint. The Regency style wreath handles and castor feet have been refinished in a striking gold that pops against the black and walnut finish. The oval mirror has a fabulous bevelled edge and with three generous drawers and small under mirror drawer, this is just the perfect place to get ready for work or a fabulous night out. Grey Sideboards

Let's talk about Grey sideboards because I'm working on three this month!

I have one medium bow fronted sideboard with four central drawers and a cupboard on either side in stock and ready to ship immediately - the majority of the photos are of this sideboard. The sideboard has been updated with a matte ash grey acrylic paint and a touch up pot will be provided to keep your piece in perfect condition for years to come. The original handles are solid brass and have been restored and lacquered. Each cupboard is closed and opened using a key and both original keys are included. If you pop me a message after purchase, I will make you a set of custom tassels for the keys in up to two colours. Theinterior has been lightly used by its previous owner so I simply cleaned and polished it with lemon polish so it smells gorgeous! Measurements: 1305mm wide x 870mm tall x 350mm / 455mm deep (end / middle). If this isn't the one for you then read on rather than buying now! My grey sideboards are based on quality preloved pieces - mostly reproduction and exceptionally crafted veneered items. They are usually stripped back to the bare wood before priming, undercoating and painting in grey matte acrylic paint and the shade can vary from a pale almost white grey, through mid greys, blue greys and darkest greys. An additional topcoat in matte, satin or gloss can also be added. The original handles are either replaced or refinished in stunning gold chrome - or your own choice of finish like antiqued brass or silver chrome. The insides are cleaned and polished.

All my pieces are upcycled and use preloved furniture and whilst they have been given a complete upgrade, there may be still be limited signs of their vintage provenance. Please review all photos before purchase - thank you! Any type of sideboard style or size can be sourced for you. I hold a number of sideboards in stock and can source something to meet your requirements. You will receive a number of options to choose from before I ask for a deposit and we proceed with the makeover. The sideboard needs to be washed, prepared and any repairs made before we start. It will then be undercoated in a suitable undercoat and spray painted with multiple coats of a grey acrylic paint. I will finish in an ultra matte, satin or gloss topcoat to make sure that it stands up to everyday usage. The interiors of sideboards not usually touched (apart from cleaning) but these could also be painted and refinished for an additional fee. Navy Blue Sideboards

OOOH... Navy Blue sideboards. One of my most popular upcycled items!

I have one small bow fronted sideboard with two drawers over two cupboards in stock and ready to ship immediately. Black Velvet Bristow Easy Chairs

These lovely Original Bristow Easy Chairs were originally owned by a couple who had them from new when they were first married back in the 1960s. They are preloved and have been a part of a wonderful life. They have now been reloved by Glasshouse Girl and are ready to be a start a new story as a part of a your home. I have two chairs available and the price quoted is per chair. Each chair has been completely stripped down to the bare wood and painted in a black acrylic. The interior foams have been replaced to bring them up to modern fire safety standards. The upholstery fabric is a black textured soft velvet with a geometric hexagons and triangles design from Studio G (part of Clarke and Clarke). The Lustro Loreto design in Jet ticks both the modern and retro styles simultaneously! With a sprung base and seat back underneath and thick incredibly comfortable foam pad, these Easy chairs are the perfect mid-century feature piece for you to melt into after a long day. I was overjoyed to see a large dresser, bedside table and mirror from my childhood restored after receiving 40 years of abuse, including my own attempt at refurbishing it. Jenny was very good in the initial stages of helping me to define what effect, I wanted to achieve. I sent her examples of a subtle grey lime wash on oak with soft white highlights on a piece I saw in the Cotswolds. She responded with several photos of something similar to clarify the ask, then it was time to send the furniture to her, which was complicated by the fact I was moving house. But we managed to come up with a plan and the movers dropped the furniture at her storage unit the same day. Throughout the process Jenny sent jpeg photos in emails to show me how it was progressing. We were able to make some minor changes after the first piece was almost finished. What I didn’t expect was that the pieces were made of different types of wood and the top of the bedside table was almost destroyed due to water (mostly spilt tea) damage. This was the biggest challenge to overcome because the final look had to be consistent across all three pieces. Jenny rose to the challenge and performed her paint “magic” and the final result is brilliant, better than I could have imagined. The only slight disappointment was due to my own indecisiveness about the brass trim handles and knobs. I wish I had listened to Jenny in the first place when she brightened them up, still - she let me come back with them, conjured up a nice looking sample which she posted to me and soon they will receive the “Glass House Girl” treatment too. Most of all, through all of this, I appreciated the open communication through emails and text, Jenny was on top of it the whole way. Of course, I would highly recommend sending any weary looking furniture to Glass House Girl to brighten up with her magic.

Fantastic service from Jenny. I had my mother’s old Singer sewing machine I wanted making into a lamp. Jenny arranged for the machine to be collected and re-delivered back to my house. When I had a slight problem with the lamp, Jenny arranged for it to be collected so she could make it good again and returned it to me herself at no extra cost to me. She did a BRILLIANT job and the lamp is now standing proudly in my front room in memory of my mum. I would highly recommend Glasshouse girl, honest, trustworthy and marvellous craftswomen. You won’t be disappointed.
