Black Velvet Bristow Easy Chairs

These lovely Original Bristow Easy Chairs were originally owned by a couple who had them from new when they were first married back in the 1960s. They are preloved and have been a part of a wonderful life. They have now been reloved by Glasshouse Girl and are ready to be a start a new story as a part of a your home. I have two chairs available and the price quoted is per chair. Each chair has been completely stripped down to the bare wood and painted in a black acrylic. The interior foams have been replaced to bring them up to modern fire safety standards. The upholstery fabric is a black textured soft velvet with a geometric hexagons and triangles design from Studio G (part of Clarke and Clarke). The Lustro Loreto design in Jet ticks both the modern and retro styles simultaneously! With a sprung base and seat back underneath and thick incredibly comfortable foam pad, these Easy chairs are the perfect mid-century feature piece for you to melt into after a long day. Dimensions: 90cm high x 52.5cm wide x 49cm deep If you love these but fancy a different fabric, I can source similar chairs and refinish / reupholster them to your own specification. Ercol Highback Dining Chairs

These gorgeous vintage Ercol dining chairs feature a highback hoop back and are available with plain stick backs or with the central swan backsplat. Despite being of exceptional quality, the original finish is often chipped and flaking so Glasshouse Girl brings them bang up to date by stripping this off. The seat pads are then sanded back to bare wood and sealed them with hardwax oil giving a soft natural finish. The back/base is refinished in high quality acrylic paint which feels soft to the touch. The standard colours I offer are black or white but custom colours are available upon request - please contact me for more information. Dimensions: 960mm high / 420mm to top of seat pad. Price is per chair. These chairs and similar chairs are painted to order within 6-8 weeks, please contact me with any special requests or if you would like your own chairs painted in this style. Please note that the final finish / tone of the wooden chair pads will be dependent on the wood the chair is made from.

‘Stud U Love’ Black Leather Tub Chairs

These leather tub chairs had their previous life as an uninspiring navy reception chair until they got the full Glasshouse Girl treatment! The original brown studding was removed and the wooden frames stripped back to the bare wood. The genuine leather upholstery is thick and soft making these chairs incredibly comfortable and has been restained jet black. The frame has been repainted in a modern matte black acrylic paint. Inspired by the work of New York designer Lee Broom, I've made the studding on these chairs their highlight feature. I've selected a range of decorative upholstery studs in different shapes and colours including flowers, footballs, honeycombs, squares, blacks, glitters, silver, chrome and brass. Dimensions: 625mm wide x 590mm deep x 775mm high. If you are looking for a practical and classic chair with a subtle design bite then the 'Stud U Love' Chairs are the perfect piece for you. As with all my pieces, these chairs are preloved and upcycled. The leather is in excellent condition but there are some minor creases / marks in line with their vintage provenance.

Holy moly Jenny is good! She has totally transformed our kitchen by sanding down and painting every single door and spraying the handles too and it looks utterly fab. I was overjoyed to see a large dresser, bedside table and mirror from my childhood restored after receiving 40 years of abuse, including my own attempt at refurbishing it. Jenny was very good in the initial stages of helping me to define what effect, I wanted to achieve. I sent her examples of a subtle grey lime wash on oak with soft white highlights on a piece I saw in the Cotswolds. She responded with several photos of something similar to clarify the ask, then it was time to send the furniture to her, which was complicated by the fact I was moving house. But we managed to come up with a plan and the movers dropped the furniture at her storage unit the same day. Throughout the process Jenny sent jpeg photos in emails to show me how it was progressing. We were able to make some minor changes after the first piece was almost finished. What I didn’t expect was that the pieces were made of different types of wood and the top of the bedside table was almost destroyed due to water (mostly spilt tea) damage. This was the biggest challenge to overcome because the final look had to be consistent across all three pieces. Jenny rose to the challenge and performed her paint “magic” and the final result is brilliant, better than I could have imagined. The only slight disappointment was due to my own indecisiveness about the brass trim handles and knobs. I wish I had listened to Jenny in the first place when she brightened them up, still - she let me come back with them, conjured up a nice looking sample which she posted to me and soon they will receive the “Glass House Girl” treatment too. Most of all, through all of this, I appreciated the open communication through emails and text, Jenny was on top of it the whole way. Of course, I would highly recommend sending any weary looking furniture to Glass House Girl to brighten up with her magic.

Fantastic service from Jenny. I had my mother’s old Singer sewing machine I wanted making into a lamp. Jenny arranged for the machine to be collected and re-delivered back to my house. When I had a slight problem with the lamp, Jenny arranged for it to be collected so she could make it good again and returned it to me herself at no extra cost to me. She did a BRILLIANT job and the lamp is now standing proudly in my front room in memory of my mum. I would highly recommend Glasshouse girl, honest, trustworthy and marvellous craftswomen. You won’t be disappointed.
