Yellow Vintage Farmhouse Style Small Sideboard / Storage

This vintage oak sideboard is just perfect for adding a bright and cheery vibe as well as useful storage to your hallway, lounge, kitchen or dining room. The carved detail on the top drawers features some fabulous fruity vines and leaves. An authentic vintage piece, it has been cleaned up and painted using a canary yellow acrylic paint, before being lightly distressed and antique glazed to give it an authentic antique style. The heavy weight drop handles have been refinished in a satin black to contrast with the yellow whilst adding a touch of modern style. The top has been completely stripped back, stained with a walnut wood dye and finished in a satin hardwax oil. This makes the gorgeous oak woodgrain stand out and protects it from every day wear and tear. The drawers have been lined with a fruity floral wallpaper adding an extra pop of colour when you open them. Dimensions: 1160mm wide x 460mm deep x 760mm high. As this is a preloved piece with an aged and distressed finish, please examine all the photos carefully before purchase - thank you! Please note, at some point this piece had a mirror mounted on the back so there are two tiny notches in the back edge - please see photos for details - but this in no way detracts from the beauty or function of the piece. Canary Yellow Vintage Farmhouse Style Low Sideboard

**SOLD** While this sideboard has been sold, (sorry!) I have several carved door ‘raw’ units in stock which can be given a colourful makeover to you own specifications. Just contact me for more details and lovely options! This solid oak sideboard has been given a bright and cheery makeover. Its carved details and primitive style are just the essence of English country farmhouse style. As a low unit, this piece would not only work in a traditional dining room or kitchen diner but it would work brilliantly in your lounge with your flatscreen TV on top. You could even add a couple of bright cushions and use it as the perfect hallway or bedroom storage unit and bench. The main unit has been painted in a stunning yellow acrylic paint, lightly distressed and antique glazed to give it an authentic time worn style. The original hardware has been refinished in a satin black to contrast with the yellow whilst adding a touch of modern style. The whole exterior has been sealing with several coats of satin lacquer to maintain its aged good looks. The top has been completely stripped back to the wood, stained with a walnut wood dye and made durable with a finishing coat of a hardwearing matt floor oil. The interior has been cleaned up by painting in a white acrylic paint and a fruity floral wallpaper has been used to line the drawers and the inside of the doors. This adds another layer of interest when you open it up. Dimensions: 1220mm wide x 450mm deep x 580mm high. I was overjoyed to see a large dresser, bedside table and mirror from my childhood restored after receiving 40 years of abuse, including my own attempt at refurbishing it. Jenny was very good in the initial stages of helping me to define what effect, I wanted to achieve. I sent her examples of a subtle grey lime wash on oak with soft white highlights on a piece I saw in the Cotswolds. She responded with several photos of something similar to clarify the ask, then it was time to send the furniture to her, which was complicated by the fact I was moving house. But we managed to come up with a plan and the movers dropped the furniture at her storage unit the same day. Throughout the process Jenny sent jpeg photos in emails to show me how it was progressing. We were able to make some minor changes after the first piece was almost finished. What I didn’t expect was that the pieces were made of different types of wood and the top of the bedside table was almost destroyed due to water (mostly spilt tea) damage. This was the biggest challenge to overcome because the final look had to be consistent across all three pieces. Jenny rose to the challenge and performed her paint “magic” and the final result is brilliant, better than I could have imagined. The only slight disappointment was due to my own indecisiveness about the brass trim handles and knobs. I wish I had listened to Jenny in the first place when she brightened them up, still - she let me come back with them, conjured up a nice looking sample which she posted to me and soon they will receive the “Glass House Girl” treatment too. Most of all, through all of this, I appreciated the open communication through emails and text, Jenny was on top of it the whole way. Of course, I would highly recommend sending any weary looking furniture to Glass House Girl to brighten up with her magic.

Fantastic service from Jenny. I had my mother’s old Singer sewing machine I wanted making into a lamp. Jenny arranged for the machine to be collected and re-delivered back to my house. When I had a slight problem with the lamp, Jenny arranged for it to be collected so she could make it good again and returned it to me herself at no extra cost to me. She did a BRILLIANT job and the lamp is now standing proudly in my front room in memory of my mum. I would highly recommend Glasshouse girl, honest, trustworthy and marvellous craftswomen. You won’t be disappointed.
