This lovely side table has been given a classic makeover in black and gold that gives a subtle nod to the classical Graeco-Roman style.

The table has been painted in a soft matte black acrylic and a sparkling gold design stencilled on top. The top has then been sealed in a hardwearing varnish.

Dimensions: 535mm diameter x 585mm high.

All my pieces are upcycled and use preloved furniture and whilst they have been given a complete upgrade, there may be still be limited signs of their vintage provenance. Please review all photos carefully before purchase – thank you!

‘Flamingo’ Bedroom Furniture

These two drawer solid pine bedside cabinets have been given a gentle, feminine and glamourous makeover reminiscent of Hollywood's Golden Age. Each cabinet has been painted in a custom mixed antique white acrylic paint and the flat surfaces have been decoupaged in a flamingo themed wallpaper from Sanderson. This paper is from the Vintage Collection II in the blush / ivory colourway and the blush pink print has a delicate metallic finish. They have then been finished with two coats of satin varnish to seal and protect from wear and tear. Iridescent glass bubbles handles from Anthropologie perfectly pick out the pink and white glamour of the flamingo paper. Dimensions: 440m wide x 400mm deep x 455mm high. This design can be applied to all manner of pine furniture and other furniture pieces and special requests can be accommodated including the other colourways shown here. Haute Couture Side Table / Trolley

This sweet little side table or cocktail trolley is solid pine and painted in a custom chalk paint made from Farrow and Ball's Clunch before a little light distressing to give it that relaxed aged / shabby chic look. The top glass surface has been freehand painted on the underside with a shabby chic French sign design which says 'Haute Couture' in black and gold / brass. The table has been sealed in matte varnish to make provide a durable finish. I managed to find a set of vintage castors (removable) with rubber feet which have been given a brass finish to complete the look. They also make this lovely piece would make a the perfect side table, bedside table or even cocktail / tea trolley for anyone with an eye for French shabby chic, handmade or Art Deco pieces with character. Dimensions: 660mm wide x 440mm deep x 685mm high inc wheels (600mm exc wheels). Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum Coffee Table – Martha Grey

This small solid oak coffee table with barley twist legs is a great example of the classic country arts and crafts style. A custom Glasshouse Girl stencil has been applied saying: Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum which roughly translates (in pigeon Latin) as "Don't Let the Bastards Get You Down". A weathered oak stain brings out the amazing wood grain and the surface protected with multiple layers of gloss varnish. The base has been painted with two coats of 'Martha Grey'. Dimensions: tbc. Grand Salon AV / Storage Cupboard

This pretty little cupboard has been painted in a custom chalk paint made from Farrow and Ball in the colour 'Clunch'. It has been distressed and matte varnished to give it that delicate, aged look ideal for a shabby chic interior. The glass door has been given a custom French sign design in black. It says "Grand Salon" "de l'Hôtel-De-Serre" "Londres" which roughly translates as "Large Lounge" "Glasshouse Hotel" "London". The typography has then been lightly distressed in keeping with the vintage feel. Dimensions: 580mm wide x 465mm deep x 915mm tall inc backplate or 885mm to top of the surface. The interior width is 500mm maximum with the door opening at 450mm. This unit provides great storage for treasured items but would also be perfect for use as an AV unit. Placed alongside a wall mounted TV, you could pop your Sky box, games controllers and more in there. This would keep the lady of the house happy style-wise and the man of the house with neat storage for all his electronic treasures! As this is a deliberately distressed finish, please examine the photos carefully before purchase – thanks! I was overjoyed to see a large dresser, bedside table and mirror from my childhood restored after receiving 40 years of abuse, including my own attempt at refurbishing it. Jenny was very good in the initial stages of helping me to define what effect, I wanted to achieve. I sent her examples of a subtle grey lime wash on oak with soft white highlights on a piece I saw in the Cotswolds. She responded with several photos of something similar to clarify the ask, then it was time to send the furniture to her, which was complicated by the fact I was moving house. But we managed to come up with a plan and the movers dropped the furniture at her storage unit the same day. Throughout the process Jenny sent jpeg photos in emails to show me how it was progressing. We were able to make some minor changes after the first piece was almost finished. What I didn’t expect was that the pieces were made of different types of wood and the top of the bedside table was almost destroyed due to water (mostly spilt tea) damage. This was the biggest challenge to overcome because the final look had to be consistent across all three pieces. Jenny rose to the challenge and performed her paint “magic” and the final result is brilliant, better than I could have imagined. The only slight disappointment was due to my own indecisiveness about the brass trim handles and knobs. I wish I had listened to Jenny in the first place when she brightened them up, still - she let me come back with them, conjured up a nice looking sample which she posted to me and soon they will receive the “Glass House Girl” treatment too. Most of all, through all of this, I appreciated the open communication through emails and text, Jenny was on top of it the whole way. Of course, I would highly recommend sending any weary looking furniture to Glass House Girl to brighten up with her magic.

Fantastic service from Jenny. I had my mother’s old Singer sewing machine I wanted making into a lamp. Jenny arranged for the machine to be collected and re-delivered back to my house. When I had a slight problem with the lamp, Jenny arranged for it to be collected so she could make it good again and returned it to me herself at no extra cost to me. She did a BRILLIANT job and the lamp is now standing proudly in my front room in memory of my mum. I would highly recommend Glasshouse girl, honest, trustworthy and marvellous craftswomen. You won’t be disappointed.
