Black ‘Croc’ Storage Sideboard

This is an excellent example of my 'Croc' range of furniture using an original vintage 'Strongbow Furniture' sideboard. The external frame has been painted black and the top, sides and door front decoupaged with a textured black/grey mock croc paper. The piece has then been sealed with multiple coats of a resin based varnish to protect and maintain its good looks. As a final flourish, the original brass hardware has been fully restored and adds a bit of glitz to the sideboard's subtle and elegant good looks. Strongbow Furniture has been creating high-quality furniture for over 140 years and uses the finest timbers, veneers and polishes. Each piece is made by experienced cabinet-makers who combine traditional skills and modern production technology. This sideboard has three doors and two pull out drawers behind the central door. The interior has been cleaned and buffed to show the beautiful original wood. Coming up to just above waist height, this sideboard has an incredible amount of storage which is ideal for modern living. Dimensions: 137cm wide x 42cm deep x 93cm tall. ‘Golden Pineapples’ Display Unit

This display cabinet has been sold but you can commission similar. Contact me for more information and to see what cabinets I have in stock ready for a Golden Pineapples makeover! Golden Pineapples adorn this vintage glass display case in abundance! It would look truly stunning in a bedroom filled with soft toys or stylish high heels as well as in a lounge or dining room with the more traditional glassware, china or cocktail accoutrements! Hand-stencilled onto the backboard inside are a set of stunning, staggered gold pineapples. A switch operated LED strip light that conforms to all UK electrical safety standards has been installed inside filling the unit with an extra pop of light when turned on. This means that, in the evening (or in a dark corner during the day), the contents will positively sparkle when displayed on the replacement polished glass safety shelves! The light also illuminates the cut glass art deco pattern on the doors making this little beauty a real feature piece your friends won't be able to help but admire. A cream coloured base paint has been carefully applied and then seriously distressed to reveal the original dark wood underneath. It has then been sealed with an old-fashioned varnished poly topcoat which has been allowed to develop a natural yellowed patina. On the top trim, I have added a raised gold pineapple border detail which is subtle but as a stylish textural element to the piece. All in all, this piece is bang on trend but seems totally original and natural which will suit lovers of shabby chic to a tee. The moulded around the middle has a nice geometric Moroccan feel. Gingerbread Bottle Lamp

This lamp has been upcycled from a clear glass bottle with a cork bung. The bottle has a textured 'nubbly' pattern around the neck and a series of happy smiling Gingerbread men. This is a very unusual bottle and a very happy lamp! I was overjoyed to see a large dresser, bedside table and mirror from my childhood restored after receiving 40 years of abuse, including my own attempt at refurbishing it. Jenny was very good in the initial stages of helping me to define what effect, I wanted to achieve. I sent her examples of a subtle grey lime wash on oak with soft white highlights on a piece I saw in the Cotswolds. She responded with several photos of something similar to clarify the ask, then it was time to send the furniture to her, which was complicated by the fact I was moving house. But we managed to come up with a plan and the movers dropped the furniture at her storage unit the same day. Throughout the process Jenny sent jpeg photos in emails to show me how it was progressing. We were able to make some minor changes after the first piece was almost finished. What I didn’t expect was that the pieces were made of different types of wood and the top of the bedside table was almost destroyed due to water (mostly spilt tea) damage. This was the biggest challenge to overcome because the final look had to be consistent across all three pieces. Jenny rose to the challenge and performed her paint “magic” and the final result is brilliant, better than I could have imagined. The only slight disappointment was due to my own indecisiveness about the brass trim handles and knobs. I wish I had listened to Jenny in the first place when she brightened them up, still - she let me come back with them, conjured up a nice looking sample which she posted to me and soon they will receive the “Glass House Girl” treatment too. Most of all, through all of this, I appreciated the open communication through emails and text, Jenny was on top of it the whole way. Of course, I would highly recommend sending any weary looking furniture to Glass House Girl to brighten up with her magic.

Fantastic service from Jenny. I had my mother’s old Singer sewing machine I wanted making into a lamp. Jenny arranged for the machine to be collected and re-delivered back to my house. When I had a slight problem with the lamp, Jenny arranged for it to be collected so she could make it good again and returned it to me herself at no extra cost to me. She did a BRILLIANT job and the lamp is now standing proudly in my front room in memory of my mum. I would highly recommend Glasshouse girl, honest, trustworthy and marvellous craftswomen. You won’t be disappointed.
